What has changed in fregatte.de – newest first. The naval browser game keeps growing: new features, rules and improvements at sea and in port.
- New weapons box: Top right, folded at first, and always the same height – the fire and defence keys no longer jump. A status line says what matters right now. Defence is one key in the box (“Hostile”, then “Defence”), in its title line when the box is folded.
- Reconnaissance in more detail: Query the identity of the ship you are looking for by radio and observe it from 5 nm or closer before classifying it neutral. After reconnaissance and inspection the ship sails on to its destination instead of vanishing.
- Convoy escort with gunboats: The attackers are now fast gunboats. They fire only their gun at 6 nm, circle the convoy and stop nearly every missile – fight them with the gun. Come closer to them than the merchant ships and they shoot at you. Fire on your convoy shows as a red tracer on the scope, and every hit is reported.
- Killer tomato on the scope rim: While one is afloat, a short red mark on the rim shows its rough direction (up to 60 nm).
- A sunk target disappears only once the shell has landed on the scope.
- Major sea rescue: every few hours a ferry sinks. Control announces the area to everyone, and twelve life rafts drift in it. Anyone can recover rafts alone and is paid per raft; if all are recovered in time, every helper gets a bonus, and alliance partners nearby earn more. New award “Major incident”.
- Killer tomato: a drifting training target turns up at random somewhere in the Baltic and shows on radar only within 10 nm. The first to hit it with the gun earns 50 pay and the new “Tomato hunter” award.
- Your own track on the chart: the chart shows the way your frigate has taken since you last put to sea.
- COLREG help: in the “Selected contact” box it shows the encounter, your role under the rules of the road, course and speed suggestions and a coloured course fan on the degree ring. Role, advice and fan appear only when the CPA is below 1 nm. More on the rules of the road
- Guest names appear in your language.
- A selected bearing of unknown kind now reads “Radar”.
- New guide with updated text and high-resolution pictures – now in English and Spanish too.
- Best navigator: poor seamanship earns navigation points – for forcing a ship to give way, close quarters and running aground. The new ranking orders players by points per 100 nm.
- Bearings: signal strength, a line style by kind of emission and a range estimate for a tapped bearing at an assumed speed. More on radar, AIS and bearings
- Voice commands: course and speed by voice while you hold the V key or the talk button, plus “All stop”. Recognition runs in your browser.
- Giving way: AI ships give way to each other by the rules of the road. An avoiding manoeuvre is now 20° at 75 % of cruising speed; ships giving way carry a small dot on the radar.
- Surveillance missions: patrols no longer notice radar and AIS inside a port zone.
- Statistics in the settings: players online and the figures for the last 30 days, without cookies and without IP addresses.
- The guide with pictures from the game is online.
- Clicks in the boxes are no longer lost.
- fregatte.de goes public – open to everyone, no sign-up needed.
- The admiral: one per round, carried by players from port to port and shown as a shoulder board on every chart.
- Faster AIS: switching takes 30 s, and AIS is locked for 60 s after combat.
- Your own shots, incoming attacks and your defence are animated on the radar; the weapons box shows target, firing conditions, range and reload.
- Route preview on the chart with distance and sailing time. “Follow route” is now called “Autopilot”, and every route keeps clear of the coast.
- Radio as a chat; units are called by name as soon as it is known.
- Frigates are drawn as a small boat along their course.
- RAS status is visible via AIS and within the alliance.
- Ranking with every active player of the round; zoom and full screen in the footer.
- English and Spanish: interface and e-mails in three languages.
- New transport mission: carry naval cadets, ammunition or the squadron commander to another port.
- Ferries, cargo ships and tankers give way to player ships.
- Career: nautical miles sailed, ports entered and awards across all rounds. All ports
- CPA line for the selected contact, red below 1 nm.
- New port view with the AIS picture, “Fill up everything” and a shipyard whose frigate shows its upgrades in brass.
- You set the course on the degree ring outside the radar scope.
- Start map with the public AIS picture: click a port to start there.
- New console: radar in the centre, engine telegraph, course marker and projected track, an overview chart and a 5 nm radar range.
- Missiles become attacks with a defence window.
- Alliances with a shared picture, alliance radio and alliance missions.
- Shipyard, replenishment at sea, radio and combat missions.
- Download your data and delete your account in the settings.
- The first versions: chart of the western Baltic, radar, AIS, AI merchant traffic, accounts, ports, missions and weekly rounds.
