The ports of the western Baltic

fregatte.de is set in a real sea area: the western Baltic Sea with the Bay of Kiel, the Belts, the Sound and the Arkona Basin out to Bornholm. Twelve ports in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Poland are your bases. This is where you accept missions, take on fuel and ammunition, repair and upgrade your frigate. This page introduces the sea area and every port.

The sea area

The playing area stretches from 9.40° to 15.30° east and from 53.80° to 56.20° north – roughly 203 by 144 nautical miles. The coastline comes from OpenStreetMap data and shows fjords, lagoons and islands such as Fehmarn, Lolland, Falster, Rügen and Bornholm. Because time in the game runs twenty times faster, the passage from Kiel to Rostock takes only about 11 minutes at 20 kn, and you can cross the whole area from west to east in around half an hour.

Missions lead into named sea areas such as the Bay of Kiel, Fehmarn Belt, Bay of Mecklenburg, Kadet Channel, Great Belt, The Sound, Arkona Basin, Pomeranian Bay and Bornholm Strait. The chart in the game is for orientation only: water depths, fairways and restricted areas are not shown.

Collecting ports: awards

A port counts for your career when you enter it from sea; the home port of a round does not count. The Port connoisseur award has levels for 3, 6, 9 and 12 different ports. Then there are German coast (all six German ports), Danish ports (all four Danish ones) and the Baltic round trip through all twelve. For Long voyage you cover 200 nm without entering port, and On the last drop means arriving with less than 10 % in the tank.
